Dispatch to Jamaica-- C!

We landed.  And you know how some women, Beyonce comes to mind, go on and on about the instant connection and unexplainable love they have for their kid? Well... that still hasn't happened to me; however, my husband swears he experienced that exact feeling for Jamaica the moment we got out of the airport and onto the Jamaican asphalt. His love for the country, its people, culture, and food was so poignant it was contagious-- when in Rome...
I did get back to my American roots and spent a good amount of time imbibing on various drinks and getting caught up on my reading.  I caught a bug during my last days there after one too many and have renewed my vow never to touch Vodka.
It was definitely a trip worth remembering.

Happy Thursday!

Welcome to my life as a low maintenance wife.  I had my hair in rollers but my husband insisted I run a "quick" errand with him.  In his book "quick" actually refers to the time it should take me to run out of the house and not of the errand itself.
Hope you guys are all doing alright.
XOXO

NOLA--DAY 2!!!

Oceana Grill, The Central Grocery Muffuletta (line was out the door and around the building), Cafe Du Monde for beignets (same fate as Central Grocery), Ralph and Kacoo's for hush puppies, Mr. B's (great BBQ shrimp!), Grenades for breakfast, bread pudding and hush puppies at every single one of these locations (we were on a quest to find out who had the best) and a 4 hour conversation over wine at the Ritz's courtyard-- I never knew vacation without shopping as the main objective could be this much fun and fulfilling!

A margarita to wash down the Grenade I had for breakfast. Although I must confess, I don't think I actually drank any of it.

Oh, did I forget to mention the crawfish, pralines, boudin balls and divinity (extremely sugary candy) stops the boys demanded we make on top of everything I previously mentioned?
The courtyard at the Ritz. We stayed at this hotel and I must say, I did not have any complaints:) I love it when a hotel has such lovely decor that you and your travel companions plan ways of making a dash for it with the room dividers, consoles, chairs, paintings; the list goes on... elegantly placed around the lobby.

From all of us: hope you enjoyed the pictures!

And... we're back to the Lone Star State (at the border of Texas and Louisiana)

Until next time
XOXO

NOLA-- DAY 1!!!

When one becomes  a bonafide couple, one finds themselves dating other bonafide couples in hopes of forming a lasting couple squared relationship. My husband and I took one of our more promising couple squared relationships to the next level by going on a long weekend trip with them to New Orleans.  Here  are some pics I managed to snap. Hope you enjoy. I know we did!

Left Houston at 6:00 am for the drive to Louisiana, this was our first stop-- putting on makeup did not make it into this particular morning's routine.

Do you recognize the plantation used in the movie Django Unchained in above collage? It's official name is the Evergreen Plantation.

Looking over the balcony of the Oak Valley Plantation.
Have a nice week everyone, will have day two pics (FOODDD!!!!) up soon.
Until next time...

Sunset Willow

Happy Memorial day everyone! For today's festivities, I made crab cakes and as always, was a very good helper to my Hubby while he was grilling.  Well, maybe not a big help since there were a lot of mosquitoes out today. My whole body itches just thinking of it.
I was able to snap a couple of pics for your entertainment. Hope you enjoy

I got this Printed Silk Organza Willow dress due to the print.  It's so pretty and so vivid; I'm wrapped in sunset!  I think I would have liked it more without the black net on top but this will do

Miu Miu snakeskin pink brogues and now behold! the crab cakes...

And they were quite enjoyable.

Doing the matrix to avoid a mosquito that was heading right for my face
Until next time,
XOXO

FUNNY FACE--- THINK PINK!

"This is the only thing I have an allergic reaction to. Someone please fucking tell me why everyone loves pink?"
(Rachel Zoe Project, Season 5. Statement was in reference to a pink swatch she was considering for her upcoming collection)

Well Rachel... waste no time trying to figure this out in your pretty little head because I found the answer:

First, the most obvious and duh answer, it's a good break from the staples: black, grey, and white; however, the TRUE answer is... because the classic movie, Funny Face, told us to!

Pink Clothes, pink washer and dryer, pink iron, pink car, pink walls, pink rooms. "The great American woman who waits for me to tell them what to wear should be immersed in all things pink" (Ms. Prescott, Editor of Quality Magazine--Funny Face).  This command lives on in a way that other colors just cannot seem to. I mean, why wasn't it topaz?

So this is me not bucking at all-- pink Halston Heritage Peplum blouse.

Have a "smarvelous" week
XOXO

PS: Excuse my ashy elbows, I have learned to live with them since they seem to be a constant companion.  Hopefully, you will too.
